Abstract | | |
To guarantee high power quality (PQ) the monitoring of the power grid is essential part of the process. The secure the best possible supervision of the PQ novel methods for the detection of PQ disturbances has to be considered. Wavelet transform (WT) is a novel signal processing tool, which provides an understandable transient signal representation in time-frequency plane. In this paper, a more efficient tool discrete WT is considered, that can be also applied to unbalanced three-phase systems with nonlinear loads, in nonsinusoidal conditions. In order to characterize quality of power being supplied and received by customers, there is a need to develop standards, preferably common one which is accepted worldwide. The development of such an index will remove any differences that may arise between the supplier and customer. The paper will be a help for PQ experts in analyzing the PQ effects in power system using WT.
